Browser Icons

When you open your browser, the page shown is known as the Home Page. Most people have this set to a favorite site like AOL Mail, Yahoo News, MSNBC or Apple Trailers.

Sometimes a browser upgrade can re-set the Home Page, so it’s a good thing to know how to fix this.

Safari

  • Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page.
  • In the Menu Bar, click on Safari and select Preferences…
  • Choose the General tab
  • About halfway down, you’ll see a box labelled Homepage and a button marked Set to Current Page. Click the button.
  • Click the red cherry button to close Preferences.

Firefox

  • Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page. Close any other open tabs.
  • In the Menu Bar, click on Firefox and select Preferences…
  • Choose the General tab.
  • Under the option, When Firefox Starts choose Show My Home Page from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the button Use Current Pages
  • Click the red cherry button to close Preferences.

Chrome

  • Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page. Close any other open tabs.
  • In the Menu Bar, click on Chrome and select Preferences…
  • In the Sidebar click on Settings.
  • Under the section, On Startup, make sure the option Open A Specific Page Or Set Of Pages is selected.
  • Click on Set Pages. A window will open.
  • Click Use Current Pages, then click OK.
  • Close the settings tab.
