When you open your browser, the page shown is known as the Home Page. Most people have this set to a favorite site like AOL Mail, Yahoo News, MSNBC or Apple Trailers.
Sometimes a browser upgrade can re-set the Home Page, so it’s a good thing to know how to fix this.
Safari
- Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page.
- In the Menu Bar, click on Safari and select Preferences…
- Choose the General tab
- About halfway down, you’ll see a box labelled Homepage and a button marked Set to Current Page. Click the button.
- Click the red cherry button to close Preferences.
Firefox
- Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page. Close any other open tabs.
- In the Menu Bar, click on Firefox and select Preferences…
- Choose the General tab.
- Under the option, When Firefox Starts choose Show My Home Page from the drop-down menu.
- Click the button Use Current Pages
- Click the red cherry button to close Preferences.
Chrome
- Navigate to the web page that you want to make your Home Page. Close any other open tabs.
- In the Menu Bar, click on Chrome and select Preferences…
- In the Sidebar click on Settings.
- Under the section, On Startup, make sure the option Open A Specific Page Or Set Of Pages is selected.
- Click on Set Pages. A window will open.
- Click Use Current Pages, then click OK.
- Close the settings tab.
