The MacBook Air is a terrific laptop, but I’ve always found the 13″ screen frustratingly small. Apple just solved that problem with the release of the new 15″ MacBook Air

The Highlights

The new Apple 15″ MacBook Air boasts a stunning design that is both elegant and lightweight. The sleek aluminum unibody construction ensures durability while keeping the weight down, making it perfect for those constantly on the move.

The large retina display features True Tone technology and has a screen resolution of 2880 X 1864 pixels and a peak brightness level of 500 nits.

Like its smaller brother, the 15″ Air uses the latest Apple Silicon M2 Processor with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU.

Apple provide a choice between a 35W dual USB-C power brick or a 70W single-USB power brick. Unless you need the dual capability, I would get the 70W as it charges considerably faster.

The Air is just .45″ thin and weighs in at 3.3 pounds. In comparison, the 13″ Air is almost the exact same width and only a half-pound lighter.

The 15″ MacBook Air comes in 4 colors – Midnight, Space Grey, Starlight, and Silver.

Early Reviews

Reviews from The Verge, Apple Insider, TechCrunch, and CNBC have been uniformly positive touting battery life, improved speakers, portability, and that big beautiful screen.

MacBook Air Buying Advice

The base model with 8GB of Unified Memory and 250GB of storage starts at $1,299.

If you can afford it, I recommend getting 16GB of Unified Memory.

Check your current Mac to see how much storage you’ve used, and get at least that much. If in doubt, always buy more storage.

Doubling storage to 512GB adds only $200 to the price.

And if you can’t afford it… you can opt for the smaller 13″ M2 MacBook Air starting at $1.099, or the 13″ M1 MacBook Air which is still available starting at only $999.
