With Back Tap you can assign actions to a double or triple tap on the back of the iPhone. This feature is supported on iPhone 8 and newer models.
How Do I Set It Up?
On your iPhone go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.
Here you can choose actions that will execute on either a Double Tap or a Triple Tap.
The option ‘Show Banner’, displays a banner at the top of the screen confirming a Back Tap is successful. I leave it off. When a Back Tap works, a banner telling you that it worked seems kind of redundant.
What Actions Are Available?
You can choose from over 50 different actions. Here are my favorites:
- App Switcher – Flip through open Apps.
- Control Center.
- Flashlight.
- Front Camera – Tap to take a selfie.
- Home – Go to the home screen.
- Lock Rotation – Lock portrait or landscape mode.
- Screenshot.
- Shake – Undo last command.
- Volume Up or Down.
- Background Sounds – 16 soothing sounds to choose from.
- Magnifier – Great for reading menus and pill bottles.
- Scroll Up or Down.
- App Settings.
If you’ve created Shortcuts on any of your devices, they will show up here.
